Our History

In April of 1970 at the young age of 24, Peter Dibbits purchased his first backhoe and started Dibbits Excavating in the Quinte area. Peter’s work experience was as a labourer and foreman at a construction company called Miron + Wiggers, but his fascination with trucks and equipment inspired him to start the family business. For five years, Peter worked on his own building the company on integrity and respect serving his community. Having many satisfied customers, the company grew a little bigger and in 1975 Peter hired his brother in law as his first employee. 

For Peter, starting the family business was more than just a job, it was his way of serving the community and those around him. Peter says that one of the greatest accomplishments for Dibbits Excavating is having so many satisfied customers.

In 1993 Joe Dibbits joined the family company as a full time employee. In 2012, Joe became President of Dibbits and continued to grow the company. In 2007 Dibbits Excavating joined the Lanscape Supply industry and became Dibbits Excavating and Landscape Supply. As the company continues to grow, Dibbits continues to serve the community and work hard to have satisfied customers. In 2020 Dibbits celebrated their 50th anniversay and today we now carry a variety of bulk products, 6 different supplier companies and tons of natural stone. Our yard contiues to expand and our staff continues to grow and become more expereienced.
